Dental implants are a life-changing solution for those with missing or damaged teeth. At Dental Holistix, we use advanced techniques to provide long-lasting, natural-looking replacements that not only restore your smile but also prevent jawbone loss and other dental issues. Our dental implant procedure offers comfort, stability, and confidence, allowing you to eat, speak, and smile without worry.
A dental implant is a small, screw-shaped post made from biocompatible materials like titanium, which is placed into your jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Over time, the implant fuses with the surrounding bone (a process called osseointegration), creating a stable foundation for a custom-made crown, bridge, or denture.
At Dental Holistix, we offer a range of dental implant solutions based on your specific needs:
Single tooth implants
For a single missing tooth, an implant is surgically placed in the jawbone where the natural tooth root once was. After the implant integrates with the bone (usually after 3-6 months), a custom crown is attached to the implant. The crown is designed to match the surrounding teeth in colour, size, and shape, providing a seamless restoration that looks and feels like your natural tooth.
Multiple tooth implants
When several teeth are missing, implants can be used to support a dental bridge or multiple crowns. Instead of replacing each tooth with a separate implant, two or more implants may be placed to anchor a bridge. This approach provides stability and prevents the need for traditional dentures, which can be less secure. The implants serve as secure anchors for the bridge, restoring function and appearance.
All-on-4 implants
All-on-4 implants are an innovative solution for patients missing most or all of their teeth. Four dental implants are strategically placed in the jaw, and a full arch of prosthetic teeth is attached to the implants. This procedure eliminates the need for individual implants for each tooth, reducing recovery time and cost. The result is a full set of teeth that function like natural teeth, giving you the freedom to chew, smile, and speak with confidence.
Implant-supported dentures
Implant-supported dentures offer a stable alternative to traditional dentures. Implants are placed in the jawbone, and the dentures snap onto these implants for a secure fit. This prevents the dentures from slipping or shifting while speaking or eating. Implant-supported dentures provide better comfort, function, and confidence than conventional dentures and can be removed for cleaning.

The timeline for dental implants varies based on your unique situation. Implants placed into healthy bone typically require 3-4 months to heal before crowns or bridges can be attached. If bone grafting is necessary, the healing period may extend to 6-9 months.
The cost of dental implants depends on the complexity of your case and the type of implant treatment you require. However, a single dental implant starts at $5,500. This price includes surgery, the dental implant itself and the implant crown; however, it does not include sedation, the initial consult ($90), hygiene treatment (between $215 to $248) and the CBCT 3D Scan required for planning ($275). "For quite a few years now, I have had no front teeth. I have always been too scared to go back to the dentist due to bad experiences. After talking to Nick and Kara, I felt more confident and comfortable going through with my treatment, which was to have my teeth hygienically cleaned and to have 5 implants and crowns done. I found Nick and Kara extremely helpful; they arranged everything for me, and all I had to do was turn up. They took the time to explain each procedure and made sure I was comfortable at all times. They both went above and beyond any expectations I had. I am so pleased I placed my trust in Nick and Kara. I now have a full set of teeth and can smile with confidence, plus I have an extremely happy wife."

Are dental implants painful?
Most patients experience minimal discomfort during the procedure. Local anaesthesia and light sedation are used to ensure you remain comfortable throughout.
How long do dental implants last?
With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime, making them a durable and long-term solution.
Can I eat normally with dental implants?
Yes! Once the implant has healed and the crown is attached, you can eat your favourite foods without worrying about shifting or discomfort.
What happens if I don’t have enough bone for implants?
If you don’t have sufficient bone, a bone graft may be necessary. This involves adding bone material to your jaw, allowing it to regenerate and create a sturdy base for the implant. Depending on the amount of bone loss, the healing time may range from 3-9 months.
Will my dental implants look like natural teeth?
Yes! Dental implants are custom-made to match the size, shape, and colour of your natural teeth, ensuring they blend in perfectly with your smile.
DENTAL IMPLANTS: PRE- AND POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Thank you for trusting us with your implant care. These pre- and post-treatment instructions are designed to support a smooth recovery and optimal healing. Please follow them closely for the best results.
Prescriptions: Ensure you have any prescribed medications as discussed during your consultation. Follow instructions for any pre-surgery medications, such as antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications. You may also take Arnica for three days leading up to surgery (available in tablets, tongue spray or gel) to help reduce post-surgical swelling, if advised.
Managing Bleeding: You’ll leave the clinic with gauze in place; keep firm, steady pressure on the gauze for at least 30–40 minutes. Light bleeding or pink saliva is normal, but if you experience excessive bleeding, use fresh, rolled gauze over the surgical area and bite down gently but firmly for at least 30 minutes. You may dampen the gauze with cold water to slow bleeding further.
Numbness: You may experience numbness in your lips, cheeks and tongue for 2–6 hours due to the local anaesthetic. Avoid chewing on these areas during this time to prevent accidental injury. We also recommend avoiding naps during this period, as you may be unaware of any trauma caused to your lips or tongue while asleep.
Pain relief and anti-inflammatory medication: Take prescribed pain relief (e.g., Panadol) and anti-inflammatory medication (e.g., ibuprofen or diclofenac) within an hour of surgery. Continue these medications regularly for 24 hours to manage discomfort. If needed, you may take additional pain relief (e.g., codeine or tramadol), using it sparingly and only as required. Take care with these medications if you feel drowsy or nauseous, and avoid driving.
Complete antibiotics: Finish the full course of prescribed antibiotics (typically 5–7 days), even if you feel better, to ensure infection prevention.
Cold compress: Apply an ice pack to the outside of your face near the surgery site for 10–15 minutes at a time throughout the first day to reduce swelling.
Rest and elevation: Keep your head elevated while resting or sleeping to reduce swelling. After 72 hours, switch to a warm compress to help ease any lingering discomfort, especially at night.
Avoid smoking: Smokers are at a higher risk of complications, so it’s best to avoid smoking for at least one week post-surgery. Refrain from drinking alcohol for at least 48 hours.
Rinsing: Avoid rinsing or spitting on the first day. After that, gently rinse 2–3 times daily with warm salt water or an antibacterial mouth rinse like Curasept or Savacol (available at pharmacies).
Cleaning the surgical site: If advised, apply a small amount of Curasept or Savacol to the surgical site twice daily using a cotton bud. Brush the rest of your teeth as usual, avoiding the surgical area.
Eating and nutrition: Stick to a cool, soft diet for 48 Hours. Good options include smoothies, yoghurt, shakes, eggs, and cold drinks (avoid fizzy or hot drinks). After 48 hours, introduce more soft foods as comfortable, avoiding hard or crunchy items until it’s easy to chew (usually around one week). Options include pasta, soup, soft vegetables, fish and avocado.
